Deeply Touched

I haven't been updating my blog for a long long..super long time. Had been very busy with my new and first job. So busy until I only had time to eat, sleep and shit. It's the same cycle everyday. But I do not mind that, since everday I see different and new patients, which are very interesting and quite fun sometimes, despite the tiredness.

Today, I saw this patient with lung cancer. He was unable to cough out his phlegm, but when he coughed, you can literally hear the phlegm at the back of his throat. He was a very very very nice uncle. He talked in a gentle and kind manner.

Uncle: Thank you so much for helping me
Me: Uncle, no need to thank me, I will help you as much as I can
Uncle: I am also a human who understands that it is very difficult for you to help other people
Me (with tears in my eyes, trying to wipe them away with my gloved hands, and trying to hide it from him, in case he felt sad about his condition)

I tried with all my might and brain to help him move his phlegm out. I used every single techniques that I learned in school, but I was only able to get out minimal amount of phlegm, much to my dismay....

Uncle (a bit frustrated, shakes head): Cannot come out.
Me: Don't worry, uncle. I will help you as much as I can.
Uncle: Thank you so much. Really thank you so much. (pats my hand)
Me (eyes swell up again).....haiz

An AA Person

I can't stand people who are AA. What is AA?? Let me explain.

They are:

a. Loud

b. Flirty

c. Only will be nice to people who will be of importance to them. Do not care about the 'little dogs and cats' that will not be of much benefit to them. To an AA person, 'little dogs and cats' are just simply loitering around and blocking their way.

d. Simply do not care about others' feeling. Since they are loud, so they will exclaim things that might embarrassed you, like "YOU MEAN YOUR WEIGHT IS 80KG??" or "YOU FALL OFF YOUR BED THIS MORNING??" in a super loud tone that the whole world can hear.

To sum it all up:

AA = Atract Attention (to themselves only and totally don't care about other people)

Britain's Got Talent - Finals

The Finals that we are all waiting for!....or maybe only I am waiting for.
Did Susan Boyle win?

This is her Semi Final song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmWCqIVQpEI

But nothing like her very original "I Dreamed a Dream" which she sang for her finals:

Eventhough Susan was definitely very talented, but she faces tough comeptition with other talented people:

a. Diversity (Dancers)

b. Flawless (Dancers)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NY9I6pxnVpM&feature=related

c. Shaheen Jafargholi (Singer)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXDHEY5BocM&feature=related

d. Hollie Steel (Singer)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGoWs5mCDXU

e. Julian Smith (Saxophonist)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hajxr8rMAtI

And the result??: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMz03DnirQY

First: Diversity = 100,000 pounds!!!!
Second: Susan Boyle
Third: Julian Smith

Susan was definitely disappointed, but she was very kind by saying "the best people won" and "they are very entertaining".
Anyway, the judges looked disappointed as well, especially Simon. He got that "WTF" look - look at 5:00 of the video.

Eventhough Susan hasn't won the first place, but I think she will definitely make her own album and earn more than the 100,000 pounds.

Bravo, Susan!!

American Idol Finale

Adam Lambert vs Kris Allen.

Adam definitely has a stronger vocal cord than Kris. But that doesn't mean Kris is second-class quality.

From the comments in youtube, people descirbed Adam's voice as 'throaty', sort of like a shadowy tune behind his normal voice, which is quite uplifting for all the songs that he sang. But, sometimes I felt he was actually screaming through his high notes. Maybe, I am not so used to that kind singing. But I definitely applaud his ability to hold a note for so loooooong. His must have had a massive lung volume for him to scream....err...I mean hold the note for that long, it's at least 10 seconds (from 1.23 to 1.33 of this video).

People are saying that Adam is a gay and doesn't deserve to win. I think people shoudn't mix a competition with a person's personal life. There is not link whatsoever between those two. So what if that person is a gay, but does has a good voice?? Does that mean he don't deserve to win??

Comparing between Adam and Kris, I think they are both good in different ways. Adam has the 'throaty' voice to 'support' his songs. Kris' voice has the smooth, silky feeling that gives a rather comfortable, relaxing atmosphere.
I would say that they will survive in different kind of music industry.

Check out the pre-finale performance by Adam and Kris!

Are They Really Police??

Mat Selamat Not "Selamat" After All

(Source: The Straits Time, Singapore)

Mat Selamat. A name that was slowly forgotten after his almost 1 year disappearance from the Whitley detention centre's toilet, got caught. In case you do not know who he is, he is the leader of a terrorist group called Jemaah Islamiah (JI) in Singapore......scary, huh?

(Just a thought: I think the police in the photo look like terrorists themselves, with the black thing, whatever you call it, over their head.....hehe, you need terrorising police to catch terrorists!!)

And where was he found? According to the The Straits Time (Linked to the title), he was found in the outskirt of Johor!!!!!
Looking at the map of Johor, other than the areas of Johor Bahru (north to Singapore), the other areas are considered as outskirt. That means, I was actually travelling back to my hometown without knowing that Mat Selamat might be lurking somewhere there?! Who knows??

And guess what?? He was caught by Malaysian Police!!! What a suprise! They are finally doing something. For this I might forgive them for not catching the person who stole my mum's handbag.

So now he is held under the country's Internal Security Act. But according to The Straits Time:

"the 48-year-old was tracked down based on intelligence provided by Singapore's Internal Security Department (ISD), and a joint operation by Malaysia and Singapore's security agencies eventually led to his arrest".

So, the "intelligence" was actually provided by the ISD of Singapore. Haha........you know what I mean.

Anyway, we are now "selamat" (safe) from Mat Selamat because:

Having Fun Out of Swine Flu!

With the swine flu virus scare roaming around everywhere, especially in Mexico, the Mexicans are trying to make positive things out of a negative thing.

A mexican song about the influenza is out in title "Influenza Cumbia" which has inspired other swine flu related songs.

Influenza Cumbia!

A swine flu song..... people have lots of time to compose songs, I guess.

Mexicans are also decorating their masks with monkey face, pig's snort or kissy lips.

And, not forgetting about 'smart' businessmen who make money out of this whole pandemic scare - introducing the "Fashion Swine Flu Masks!" Sold at USD$ 10

A Japanese illustrator, Yoriko Yoshida, had also came up with the idea of "Stylish Surgical Masks", which come with matching names, cool ya!:
Mask of Beauty

Mask of Mt. Fuji
Check them out at :
Really patriotic masks, I should say - - for example, Mask of the Rising Sun....symbolises Japan.
As I am working in the hospital, it will be rather funny to appear in the hospital with one of the masks above - - say, the pig's snort mask. Haha.
Scare the wits out of people!

The Modern Monk

What does being modern means? Following all the newest trend of technology, dress up following the most up-to-date fashion, listening to the most recent music and watching movies etc.

What does all these means? Just changing according to the flow of the current world.

That means not dressing like this:

But this:

So, that's the approach used by a Chinese Bhuddist monk, Shi Daoxin, to reach out to people.

Talking about religion, the younger generation of today are not very interested or enthusiatic as compared to the older generation, since, most young people in affluent countries have everything that they want. There is no need to seek for help from God. Thus, reaching out to the younger generation can be tough.

The method used by the monk is through songs, by that it doesn't mean spiritual chanting and meditating songs, but songs that mimics chinese pop music - - however, the contents of the lyrics consist of Bhuddist teachings. His songs are played on Chinese national TV and radio, having received thousands of hits on the internet.

I would say this monk is very brave. Having vowed to be a monk and having lived most of his life in the temple, to venture out and do something like this is rather drastic. He might have to face with scorn and disapproval of his fellow monks, for defying the rules and regulations set by the temple. Once he venture out all alone, he need to find people to support his effort, which is not easy. But, I must say he did a good job!

Eventhough many people are criticizing him for being so modern - he wears a sunglass, listens to ipod while walking on the street and replies to email from fans, but he still continue with his work to reach to the younger generation without wavering. Anyway, what's wrong with wearing sunglasses and listening to ipod?? And people even criticised him of chasing fame! Can't people see the good cause behind all his doings? Why does he want to endure all these criticisms just to chase fame? He must have other stronger reasons to do what he is doing.

Daoxin will be releasing his 2nd album this year and money collected will be given to charity.

Thumbs up and all the best to Daoxin!

Snorkelling Experience in Sabah

The 5-day trip in Sabah was really very relaxing. It's all about natural beauty. Sun, sea, moutain, natural habitat for animals.....you name it. After 3 years of studying, finally a good time for me to relax.
It's a bit late to blog now about my snorkelling experience, because I was busy with preparation to start work - already started working for 3 days - - - ~tired~- - - But I still want to talk about it! :P
Throughout the 5 days there, the day to go to the islands was one that I wasn't looking forward to. Why?? Because I do not know how to swim!!
- - - ~ ashamed~- - - And the 2 friends with me are good swimmers! So, I was mentally prepared to be left alone on the beach, or just at the shallow part of the sea, playing water like kids.

We started out in the morning from Sutera Harbour Resort. We took the promotion of RM 75 which will include the snorkelling equipment - mask, fins and life jacket (most important for me - my life depends on it), 15 minutes of glass bottom boat ride and return trip for 2 islands - Manukan and Sapi!! Cheap eh?

Me and Lily on the boat to Manukan Island

The detailed prices and available activities can be found on the website linked to the title.

Once we arrived at Manukan island, we were captured by the beauty of the island! The fishes that swam happily almost everywhere!

Feeling happy and nervous at the same time - how am I suppose to snorkel? I can't even swim....... Even with the life jacket I still felt really scared.
Lily, with her fins and mask

Xiaoqi adjusting her mask and me feeling very nervous

Well, all thanks to my friend. She promised to hold on to my hand and never let go! So, we embark on our coral reefs searching journey. ~~God, protect me...~~ We were allowed to snorkel until where the red balls are, which was really far away, for me, maybe.

Once we reached half of the distance, I become so scared that I almost went back. But my friend encouraged me and told me if I don't go further, there will be nothing to see, and I will miss the opportunity to see the beautiful coral reefs. So, I swallow my saliva, gather whatever guts that are left in me and went on and on and on.....

I never regretted going on and on and on! Anyway, I was too slow and heavy for Xiaoqi to pull me along, so a really strong lifeguard came over to our rescue. He brought me around to the places with the most coral reefs and fishes! We saw the poisonous sea urchin - shivers... and Nemo! haha.....

The lifeguard also was really good at diving - dived to get more coral stones for us to see - starfishes, and some others which I do not know the names.
Our lifeguard, whom I held on to with all my strength :P

Anyway, the only thing I regretted was not having a waterproof camera to capture the beautiful scenes underwater.

So, snorkelling is feasible even if you do not know how to swim. But you got to have lots of guts, trust me!
